Hello Everyone,                                                                         3/21/2011

Winter is almost over and it is time to start planning our ATV Fun Runs for 2011.  The Board of Directors
met in March and planned our scheduled rides for this year.  I am sending along with this newsletter a copy
of our scheduled events and meetings for 2011.

At the meeting we decided to raffle off a 270 Winchester 700 model with a Leopold Scope.  We will start
selling tickets right away and having the drawing at our Break up party over Labor Day weekend.  Tickets
are $5.00 each or 5 for $20.00.  We have a theme for the tickets called Whack a Wolf.  We are checking
into seeing if there is some kind of diffidence fund out there to help with legal fess for anyone who has shot
a wolf and is going to court over it.  We would donate a percentage of our proceeds of the selling of ticket
to them.  I need everyone to vote on this and get back to me no later than April 15.  We are looking at right
around $1000.00 to buy the gun and scope.  If I don’t hear back from you I will take that as a yes vote and
we will order the gun and scope.  You can call, mail your vote or email me or any of the other officers.
valpatton@live.com .

We also discussed raising the annual dues for the upcoming year. We will vote on this at our spring
meeting in May.  The price we came up with is $15.00 singles and $25.00 for a family.  The reason for this
is the rising cost of food, office supplies, mailings and other things we need to run our club.

We all love our animals and I have been asked for those of you who bring their animals to our events,
please have them on a leash.  We are not trying to offend anyone but out of respect for others please
have them on a leash . Thank you

We are still trying to get grants to build on our property next to Elk Creek Station.  The money that we have
raised is not enough to get started.  In the meantime we are still renting the property to Ron Norland for
$75.00 a month.  We had a sign made and it will be put back up as soon as the weather permits.  Hopefully
this year we can get a grant to starting getting some work done.  I was hoping to have something up before
I leave office next year but I don’t see that happening yet.

I am going on Vacation April 11 and will not be back until May 17th.  I will have my computer with me and I
will be checking my emails, I will send any information I get from other clubs and the Idaho State ATV
Association, on to you. I will have my cell phone but it does not always work where I will be staying but
leave a message and I will call you when I get into cell service. 208-507-0107

We need donations to help with the cost of the Fireworks.  The Dust Devils have been the one in charge of
getting donations for the fireworks. Local individuals, organization and Business in Elk City have been
wonderful in the past donating for this event.  If any of our members would like to donate make sure you
specify the amount you want donated for fireworks.  We understand money is short but whatever you can
afford will help, if you can’t afford to donate anything DO NOT FEEL BAD.

Mark your calendars for our upcoming events and just to give you a heads up Don is planning a longer
ride to Dixie this year.  So you better get in shape.  We also talked about a camp out on the Darby
Montana Road but did not set that one in stone.  We will wait on that one until later in the year to see if that
one will take place.

I will have another newsletter in May after our meeting and I will be sending along our membership form to
be filled out.  We need you to fill out a new one every year.  We need to see if any changes have been
made to address, phone numbers and email address.

Thank you
Valerie Patton

closing some roads to all-terrain vehicles amid safety concerns over underage drivers.

MORE INFORMATION

Last Fall you were invited to participate in a regional meeting of outdoor recreation opinion leaders. The
Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation aggregated the top issues and opportunities from the process
to kick start public participation in an online discussion about outdoor recreation in the state. That online
tool is now up and ready for use. The following is a news release about the tool.

Thanks for your participation in the process to this point, and certainly feel free to join in the discussion
online and post your own ideas.

You can have your say on the future
of outdoor recreation in Idaho

BOISE—The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation (IDPR) wants your opinion about outdoor
recreation in Idaho. Are recreation opportunities increasing? Are fees charged for camping competitive? Is
solitude still easy to find in Idaho?

You can comment on outdoor recreation issues already identified, or post issues of your own at www.
idahorecreationfutures..org. IDPR Planning Chief Rick Just says this is an idea generator, not a survey.

“Often if your address wasn’t randomly selected, you don’t get to participate in a survey,” Just said. “This
time, everyone can participate. We want to know what’s important to you.”

IDPR wants to hear about recreation issues everywhere in the state, not just in state parks. The agency
produces the Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Plan (SCORTP) every five years
for all recreation providers, public, private, local, state and federal. The plan ranks issues and
opportunities identified by citizens, and IDPR adjusts its criteria for Land and Water Conservation Fund
(LWCF) grants in order to help meet those needs.

“The Idaho Recreation Futures site is one method we’re using this year to stay in touch with citizen needs,”
Just said. “If it proves popular, we’ll probably just leave it in place.”

Will it is the end of the year for our club except for our Christmas Party in December.  I think over all we had a good
year.  Members went to several events to sell the raffle tickets on our gun.  Some went to the training on how to run
a chain saw (as if they did not know how) and took the first aid class sponsored by the Forest Service.  We got the
trail contract done with Parks & Rec. on time.  We have all the permits for ShearerPark and we have a fence around
it.   We did not get the light pole up so we could have the electric hooked up but that still might happen.

We had the Break up Party in the Elk City Park so members did not have to travel too far for the dinner and silent
auction.   We did not have a huge turnout but the turnout we had was a good one.  It was Archery season, getting
wood in for the winter and there was a Boise state football game that keep some away from the party.

The drawing for the Winchester Model 270 featherweight witha 3x9 Redfield scope went to Jerry Bodden who lives in
Lewiston and has a cabin on the American River in Elk City.  I gave out awards to the guys who cleaned the trails,
the officers and boardmembers for the 2009-11 year. Roster Overall was given a ribbon and a pictureof him for the
youngest rider on the 106 mile ride and Don Bushey was given the second place ribbon and picture of him in Elk
City Days parade.  I gave a special award to Don Bushy who sold the most tickets on the gun, headed up getting our
trails contract done, cooked at our BBQ, flagged the trails for our fun runs and rode drag picking everything up after
the runs.  Don did just about everything I asked of him with different things throughout the year,he even fixed my
printer for me.

Dorothy Bushey presented me with a beautiful quilt that shemade for me for all I have done for the club. I sure was
surprised and I will cherish always.  I had to call her the other night to tell her I was wrapped in my new quilt and was
snug as a bug.

Thank you Dorothy so much.

I do not want to forget to thank Don, Treads, Darrell,Sparky and Darwin for their help in getting our trails done on
time.  These guys also helped clear, mark and figure out what trails we would ride on for our fun runs.   Vice
President Darrell, Secretary Kim, Dorothy Treasure, Past President Mike Evett, board members Karen Crosby and
BillGordon,  All of them have made it so easy for me the last two years,  I want everyone to know this club would not
be what it is without all of them and all of you.  One person does not run this club we all do.

Dorothy, Kim and Joyce Dearstine run all the registrations this year and did a very good job.  Ont he long ride in
August Dorothy and Joyce was at the park for 13 hours.  That was a long day for them and we are going to be
making some changes in how we do the registration and we will be asking for more members to help out so one or
two people are not stuck at the registration all day.

I also want to give a big thank you to Joyce Dearstine with her help in getting our trails done the last few years.  With
her help we have been able to use the kids that she has working for Framing Our Community (FOC) during the
summer.  There were eleven young men and women and itmade the trail contract go faster with their help and made
it easy for the members who cleaned them.  Our members who have been cleaning trails are not young and it makes
a big different having these young kids help.  They have all been pleasant and hardworking young folks and we
have been thankful for having them.  I want to thank Joyce and FOC for lending them out to us.

Our Christmas party is Dec. 17 at 5:00 pm at the VFW dininghall.  The Club will be supplying Prime Rib,Baked
Potatoes, butter, sour cream. Bring a potluck dish and a gift for everyone that comes with you.  If you have kids
bring a gift for them with their name on it.  RSVP by Dec. 12th to me so I know how much prime rib to order.

We will have elections of new officers in the spring so all of you be expecting a phone call asking you to be an
officer.  I need to step down and let someone else take on this job.  I have enjoyed it and love this club and the
members we have. but it is time for new blood.  I will be here to help and the other officerswill help also.

Happy Thanksgiving – Merry Christmas– Happy New Year

Valerie
